The Mission of the Alase Center for Enrichment is to improve the
quality of life and strengthen the families and communities for
individuals through the provision of direct services and community
programs. This mission is modeled after the West African Yoruba concept
Alase (pronounced Al-ah-shay), which means the power to accomplish things
or get things done. An additional meaning of Alase is one who heals. In a
larger sense, the Alase Center for Enrichment will serve as a model of our
ability to revitalize and reclaim our families, our community and
ourselves. The center will provide a model of economic self-sufficiency
within our community, specifically regarding mental health services.
Our mission is multi-faceted.
Clients can expect to be challenged to find the answers to the sometimes
seemingly complex problems in life by focusing on the simple answers that
come from within. Or for those issues that are indeed complex, appropriate
time and support is given for ample understanding and resolution of the
problem. Respect for the client and their ability to determine the course
they want for their lives is the cornerstone of treatment, and our role is
to help facilitate this process by fostering insight, action and
ultimately growth which will produce lasting change. Therefore, we will
not only accomplish our mission, but also leave a lasting impact on our
community.
